A busy weekend for U14 hurlers

Our U14 hurlers were well busy this Bank Holiday weekend with contrasting fortunes.
On Friday evening, they played Loughrea in the Toddie Byrne Plate semi, in Loughrea (as curtain raiser to the Cup final won by Clarinbridge over Craughwell). Loughrea proved much too strong and ran out winners by 5-10 to 0-3. Credit to the Kinvara lads who never stopped trying right up to the final whistle. Loughrea were a fine strong skillful side who should perform very well in the A Championship.
Then this evening in Ballyloughane, Kinvara commenced their U14 championship by playing Liam Mellows. This was an important game as not only is it important to get the first game won, but also how the lads would react to Fridays heavy defeat. The lads did not disappoint and won out by 3-6 to 0-9. It was a tough close game, and the Kinvara lads put in a mighty performance, showing great character in bounce-back-ability.
Next up in the group are Kilconieron, and we travel there next May Bank Holiday Monday for 11am throw-in. This will not be easy. Kilconieron also won this evening by beating Kiltormer 3-4 to 1-5. They will be keen to keep the run going, in front of their home crowd.
For the record, also in our group, Tynagh-Abbey-Duniry beat Meelick-Eyrecourt 4-7 to 3-3.
It will be a tough championship group, and expect very little between all teams. Top four (out of six) qualify for quarter-finals.
