Draws made for Juvenile Hurling

Hi all,
The championship draws were held last night for the County Juvenile hurling 2012.
One of the big points for our club is the placing of our U16 hurlers in the A championship. This is a great achivement. I can only find record of us playing in U16A twice in the past 30 years - in 1989 (lost semi-final to Turloughmore 1-6 to 0-7) and in also I think in 1996 ???
There are only 11 sides in A, and it is a great challenge for us now to compete with them.
I suppose the aim in our club is to play our codes at the top level. In hurling, one would love to see us compete more at A grade, and maybe this is the start of us rubbing shoulders with the bigger clubs of Galway juvenile hurling.
Another interesting point is that 4 years ago in 2008, our Under 16's played in C grade in a group of 6 sides. We played our first match and got well beaten. We failed to field and gave walk-overs in the remaining 4 group matches. Needless to say we failed to qualify!

Other points to note are:
1) Both U8s and U10s will consist of groups of 6 sides, so guaranteed 5 games each. Also, only two clubs will meet to play (not like last year), so therefore both U8s and U10s matches will be on at the same time.
2) U12 groups will also be of 6 teams each.
3) Note also that start dates for U12 and U13 are now reversed. The U13 championship will start in mid June, whereas the U12 competition will start late August.
4) Approx dates for commencement of grades is as follows:

U8 and U10 - 5th May
U12 Competition - 23rd August
U13 Championship - 14th June
U14 Toddie Byrne Cup - 24th March
U14 Championship - 23rd April
U16 Championship - mid July.

The draws made are as follows:

U13 B Championship
Group A) Moycullen, Mullagh, Kinvara, Ballindereen, Kiltormer, Gort.
note: top two sides qualify to quarter-finals

U14 Toddie Byrne Cup
We got bye to round 2, and will play the winners of either An Spideal v Kiltormer.
The winners of our match then play round 3 against winners of either Mountbellew-Moylough v Clarinbridge.

U14 B Championship
Group C) Gort, Sarsfields, Kinvara, Meelick-Eyrecourt, Cappataggle , Portumna.
note: top 2 in quarter-finals, plus 3rd place side in play-off with the two other 3rd placed sides for final 2 quarter-final spots (3 groups in total).

U16 A Championship
Group A) Gort, Kinvara, Killimor, Castlegar, Turloughmore, Ardrahan.
note: top four sides qualify for quarter-finals (only two groups)

Note: The County Juvenile Football Board meeting is being held tonight so will have an update on that news for you all on Monday evening meeting.
