Juvenile Club Registration Letter

The following letter from Kinvara GAA  Juvenile Treasurer Paddy Barry will be distributed along with Registration Form and Code of Best Behaviour early in the coming week. Remember Sunday 26th Feb 12 noon to 1pm is Registration Day. Also, we will have an Open Day for junior and senior infants and their parents. This will also take place next Sunday morning. More info on that shortly.

Dear Parent & member,

Welcome to the 2012 season!!  Where did last year go to? There I was finding my feet in my new treasurer’s role and suddenly my chairman is asking for year-end accounts with the 12 months having disappeared.  Nobody told me it would be that quick or busy!

Having learnt a few lessons last year and responding to the many suggestions for improving the whole registration system please find detailed below a newly revamped process for 2012.  It should be simpler and hopefully easier for you all.

We are to hold our membership day at the club grounds on the Moy Road on Sunday 26th February, 2012 from 11.30am to 1.00pm at which parents and children are invited to attend and register for the 2012 year and receive the 2012 membership package (see below).

In response to suggestions from last year we are offering a payment instalment plan for the membership fees this year - see details below.  Furthermore, we have also established a player access fund so that no child need miss out on playing or training for any reason.  Again see below for further details.

Once again we are also offering discounts to families with more than one child and again as last year your membership fee entitles your child or children to participate in either or both of the hurling and football clubs.

This year we are to provide a minimum of 24 training sessions at all levels from Under 6 to Under 16 with increasing frequency as the grades get older.  As part of your membership package this year we have secured a gear kit bag and a trendy beanie hat.  Both have the Kinvara Hurling & Football Club Crest and the name of our principal sponsor for the year – Burkes Londis Plus – emblazoned onto the fabric.  Brand new members at Under 6 grade will receive a players kit as per 2011 but those Under 6’s that had already joined in 2011 will receive the bag and hat.

Once again Burkes Londis Plus has generously provided sponsorship for the Juvenile Club.  In difficult times this sponsorship is most welcome and indeed vital to our continuing development of the club.   Burkes Londis secured an All-Ireland of its own during 2011, winning the Londis of the Year award – a great result and congratulations to John and his team who I know recognise and appreciate all your business during the year.  Silverware of our own is an aspiration of our own in the Juvenile Committee and with continued work we hope to see great success in the coming years from our juvenile ranks!

Once again this year all coaches involved with the club will have been coached to the minimum GAA standards and all will have been Garda vetted in line with best practice in youth training and coaching.  Some of our coaches are undertaking the next level of the GAA coaching system to increase their skill base.  Exciting times as our club develops its skill base and quality.

In 2012 membership fees will remain as they were in 2011;

Registration forms (attached) and relevant payment should be presented at the Membership Day on 26th February, 2012 or alternatively families can return the signed registration form (parent and each child MUST sign) directly to me at my contact details below.

Those families choosing to avail of the instalment plan must return documentation to myself and subsequent payments are also to be forwarded to me as per the schedule outlined above.  Mobile Phone numbers and address details must be provided in all instances.  Each instalment payment will be acknowledged by receipt.

Player Access Fund:

During 2011, thanks to all your efforts in supporting the various fund-raising activities we carried out during the year, the Kinvara Juvenile Club has also been able to establish a player access fund to ensure any child can be registered for the coming year.

In the Kinvara Juvenile Club our principal concern is that any child that wants to be able to play hurling can do so and we are delighted to be able to offer access to this fund.  Please feel free to contact me directly or complete the registration form and return to me at my contact details below to arrange membership and collection of kit and any other equipment (hurl, helmet) if required.

2011 Accounts:

When elected to the position in December, 2010 I made a promise that the financial position of our club would be made available to all its members.   Heretofore, the Juvenile Club has always published its accounts and distributed them at our Annual General Meeting at the end of the year for member to access.

This year I am sending out to every member of the club a summary of the 2011 accounts so that you too can also see where your valuable monies are spent and how much it takes to run the club on an annual basis.  You will find the summary attached and if you have any queries on the figures please do not hesitate to contact me directly for further information.

Hurls, Helmets, Sliotars, Hoodies, Kit

Parents should note that Kinvara Juvenile Club hold stocks of Helmets, Hurls, Sliotars, crested hoodies and other items that can be purchased at discounted prices from the Club.  Our objective is to make hurling affordable to all and please contact me at my contact details below if your child requires any item of kit for the coming season.

Parents should also note that the Club will replace without charge any hurl that is broken during practice or a game so long as the player presents the broken hurl to his coach / manager during the training session or relevant match for replacement.

A major focus of the club and its officers for the forthcoming season will be to ensure that all our players adhere to our club code of conduct and that good discipline and RESPECT is shown at all levels of the club.  It will be a requirement of all parents and players to sign up to the code and membership will not be complete until the detached acceptance form is received by a club officer.  As such we would ask that you and each child being registered carefully read the enclosed booklet and sign up to the code.

With our numbers growing every year (we had a total of 167 members in 2011) we are striving to continue to improve our service to you our members.  We, as always, remain open to ideas, suggestions or help in delivering the best experience possible to your children as they commence or indeed continue their GAA experience and look forward to providing a hugely enjoyable year of sport and camaraderie in 2012.

Kindest regards,

Your treasurer,

Paddy Barry
