Kinvara for Senior Hurling League quarters

posted 21 Aug 2013, 13:56 by Unknown user
Kinvara senior hurlers face Killimordaly this Friday (in Castleday 6:45pm) in the SHL quarter-final. After last week's great win over Mullagh, the Kinvara crew will be hoping for a repeat result and a victory, and claim a spot in this years league semi-finals.

Killimordaly have had an impressive return to the senior ranks this year. They had a very tough Championship group along with St. Thomas', Portumna and Clarinbridge, and although they did not advance, they still proved their worth and caused many problems for those big guns. Their league form was also impressive. They played 5 matches, won 4 and only lost 1. They lost their opener to Loughrea, but followed up with impressive wins over Beagh, Tommie Larkins, Liam Mellows and Sarsfields. There is no doubt that they will be out to impress further in this tie, and reestablish themselves as a top side in senior hurling.

Kinvara were missing several regulars in the Mullagh tie (even Manager Ollie Bergin had to play!). With still many missing for this tie, the target first is to try field as strong a fifteen as possible, and then hope that even without lack of recent training, that the work done earlier in the season will stand to them and get them over the line.

This match could be a close one. Both sides will be missing several players, with maybe a key here is how the new lads perform.
