Kinvara Senior Hurling......2014 programme extract

posted 1 May 2014, 14:22 by Garret Byrne
The following is our page from the Galway Hurling Programme for the SHC 2014, including our squad (note number on jerseys are for programme purposes).

History:
Kinvara GAA celebrates its 125th Anniversary this year. The club was founded in 1889, when the teams of Kinvara, Doorus and Killina joined together to form "The Killoveragh Club", the ancient name of the parish. The first South Board title came in 1939, with other highlights being County Junior Titles in 1959 and 1975, County Intermediate in 1966, while more recently we won U21A in 2004. Although the club has yet to win the County Senior titles, we did reach two finals, losing in both 1979 and 2007.
Our first and current pitch Faiche Padraig was opened in 1961, and the club has now purchased an additional adjoining 5 acres, and will commence development of a much needed second pitch in the coming months.
