Kinvara U21Bs face stern opposition

County U21B Hurling Championship Quarter-final
Sat 8th Nov, in Clarinbridge at 2:00pm

David Huban's squad must renew acquaintances with the men from across the bay as Kinvara face Cois Fharraige in a repeat of an earlier round match. That day, back in March, the westerners were the stronger and won out by 0-19 to 1-6.
Since that match, Kinvara went via the Preliminary quarter-finals where we impressed against Carnmore, while Cois Fharraige headed for the quarter-final draw, and hence, here we meet again.

Cois Fharragie are a combination of An Spideal, Michael Breathnach and Barna-Furbo. Their amalgamation is proving very strong, and they caused an upset early on when defeating a fancied Liam Mellows side in Round 1. Their players are currently kept busy with their respective Junior clubs, with An Spideal in the Junior A final, while Michael Breathnach have a replayed Junior A semi-final to face. The third club, Barna-Furbo, also did well in Junior A, as they topped their group only to narrowly lose in the knockout stages to a strong Turloughmore side.
The Connemara side will be aiming to go one better this year as they lost the U21B final last year to Rahoon-Salthill, and we can be sure that that defeat will no doubt spur them on this year.

The Kinvara squad only really had the chance to get together this week and up to then all players were tied up with either our Seniors, Junior B's or Junior C's. Manager David Huban will be keen that the players commit to the job on Saturday and give it their all. Although he has a young squad (only one player overage next year), he has a talented and eager group in that, with plenty of competition for places all over the field.

This bunch can spring a surprise on Saturday, but a lot of things need to happen. They need to believe it, they need to believe in their management, and our clubs supporters need to get behind them and help make the difference.

Verdict: The seasiders..............from South Galway!
