Kinvara v Beagh.....recent championship history

posted 1 May 2014, 13:55 by Garret Byrne
As we look forward to Saturday's big match in the SHC, we take a look at how both Kinvara and Beagh have fared in the SHC in the last 9 years.

Beagh are probably the form team as last year they reached the county semi-final, something Kinvara hasn't done since 2007, when we won and reached the county final (but lost that one!). Beagh beat a fancied Turloughmore in last years quarter-final, but lost to Loughrea in the semi-final. Since coming back up senior in 2005, they have reached the knockout stages in 4 of those 8 years, with last year being the farthest they ever reached. Can they go further this year???

Kinvara, as always unpredictable, have shown steady improvement in the past two seasons. Since the new format came in 2012, Kinvara have reached the group stages in both 2012 and 2013, and have improved their placings in each year. Its important to note that a preliminary quarter-final spot in the old structure is equivalent to a 3rd place in a group in the current structure. We reached our second ever County final in 2007, but have failed to make even a semi-final appearance since then. In fact, we haven't made the quarter-finals since 2008. Will 2014 be the year to rectify that???
