LA NA gCLUB 2014

posted 2 Sep 2014, 13:37 by Garret Byrne
Kinvara GAA Juvenile Club will hold their annual La na gClub on Saturday 13th September in our gaa grounds, Faiche Padraic.

This year it is also that bit more special as the club is celebrating its 125th Anniversary. The club was formed in 1889, when the three teams of Kinvara, Doorus and Killina joined up and united as one. The original name of the club was "The Killoveragh Club" - after the ancient name of the parish - but shortly after it simply became known as Kinvara GAA club.

Kinvara GAA first held a La na gClub in 1984 (it being the centenary year of the GAA), when there was matches at U12 hurling, U14 football, and U16 hurling, aswell as an adult football match. (Note: there was no U6s, U8s or U10s teams back then!)
30 years later and we are delighted that our La na gClub has become a definite fixture on our club calendar.
This year we welcome a new addition in our club cups, with the Michael O'Sullivan Perpetual Trophy being played for at U12 football. On top of that, we again look forward to the matches for the Toddie Byrne Cup (U13 hurling), and the Dr. McCarthy Cup (U16 hurling).

We look forward to you joining us on the day, which will also include a BBQ and teas and coffees.
