Minor B Hurling Championship
KINVARA 4-8, AHASCRAGH-FOHENAGH 3-4

Kinvara minor hurlers made it two wins from two in this Pier Head Minor championship match, played in wet and windy Faiche Padraig, Kinvara this evening. Conditions were not easy for either side, as the rain and very soft ground made it difficult to hurl, but credit to both sides as they made the most of it and each showed some good patches.

Kinvara's first three scores were points, but the next three were majors and that means green flags, with Nessan O'Hanrahan and Conor Whelan (two) ensuring that Kinvara led at the interval by 3-3 to 0-3.

Ahascragh-Fohenagh went on the attack early in the second half, but will rue three scorable point chances that would have given them the chance to bridge the deficit. Kinvara got the first score of the second half through Conor Whelan, with Ahascragh-Fohenagh shortly replying with a goal. That brought the gap down to 7 points but a good spell for Kinvara saw then score 1-2 without reply and so ensure the win. Credit to Ahascragh-Fohenagh and they never gave up and were rewarded with two late goals, but by that stage the win was with the seasiders.

So, a good win for Kinvara but there is no doubt that this performance will need to be improved on if this side are to advance to the later stages of this championship.

Next game is provisionally fixed for two weeks time against Cois Fharraige, but this is to be confirmed.

Subs on: Arthur Gordon for R. Cullinane, Ollie Nilan for D. Flaherty, and Ruairi Cullinane for C.MacMahon.
