The Michael O'Sullivan Cup

posted 11 Sep 2014, 14:25 by Garret Byrne
This year Kinvara GAA are delighted to hold the first ever final to be played for the O'Sullivan Perpetual Cup. This Cup has been kindly donated to us by current juvenile club president Michael O'Sullivan.
The cup this year will be played for at U12 football level, and we are expecting a lively contest in this, especially as the lads are currently in the middle of their county league campaign. The captains who will lead their respective teams are Cloonasee's Conor Burke and Gortaboys's Eli Sheedy. Throw in at 3:15pm this Saturday 13th Sept.

Michael O'Sullivan
Kinvara GAA would like to thank Michael for kindly donating this cup to us to be played for every year at juvenile football. Michael has had a strong influence in gaelic football in Kinvara ever since he came here in the early 1970s. He was a distinguished footballer in his day, and even played for his native Mayo in Croke Park. He also played Sigerson football in UCG during the 60s and had many of the famous Galway three in a row team as his teammates. His football pedigree goes back even further as his grandfather won All-Irelands with Kerry earlier last century.
In the 80s Michael coached the youth of Kinvara, and was manager of Kinvara's only team to ever win a county football championship title. That year was 1988 when we won the County U14C Championship title.
In more recent years Michael served as club officer and secretary, and is now enjoying his role as honourary President of Kinvara Juvenile GAA.
