U12 Football League starts tomorrow

posted 23 Aug 2014, 13:37 by Garret Byrne
Kinvara young U12 footballers will start their League competition tomorrow morning with a tricky away assignment to Menlough.
The lads are competing in Division 1C North, and are in a tough group alongside Athenry, Caltra, Craughwell, Menlough and St. Gabriels. With the top two sides facing each other in the league final, there will be little or no room for error for any side in this.

Kinvara are managed by Mike Heavey, and he is ably assisted by both Damien Fallon and Ken Corless on the line. The squad had a good pre-season playing four matches and winning three of them - against Loughrea 2-1 to 1-3, against Craughwell 5-3 to 2-6, and a challenge to Michael Cusacks (Carron). Their defeat was to Athenry by 2-6 to 2-3.

Hopefully the players will be able to shake off the summer holidays and refocus on the upcoming matches. A good start will be vital in the league, but it wont be easy travelling to Menlough to take on the home side.
But if our lads play to their potential and put in the effort for every ball, then there is no reason why they cant be there at the business end come late September.

Dates for matches are as follows:
24/08/14......v Menlough, in Menlough 11am
31/08/14......v St. Gabriels, in Kinvara 6pm
07/09/14......v Athenry, in Athenry 11am
14/09/14......v Craughwell, in Kinvara 11am
21/09/14......v Caltra, in Caltra 11am
