U16 Hurlers begin their Championship

posted 27 Mar 2014, 15:02 by Garret Byrne
Kinvara U16 hurlers will take to the field this weekend for their opening match in this years U16 Hurling Championship.
The opponents for Saturday are Portumna, with the match fixed for Saturday 29th March in Faiche Phadraig, Kinvara at 5pm.

The Kinvara lads are this year managed by Dominic O'Gallagher, with Pat Conole and Brian Connolly also marshalling the line. They have a hard working bunch of lads, who will be hoping to have a good run in the championship. The squad is well balanced, with a tight squad which is a blend of a few 16 year olds as well as a few 13 year olds, with others in between.

Portumna will be tough opponents on Saturday. They are always a skillful side who battle for every ball. This bunch of squads last met 3 years ago in an U13 quarter-final, when Portumna were the victors. A lot has changed for both sides since then, but Kinvara will be hoping that the result will also be changed!
