U16 Hurlers to play in A Grade

The flagship of Kinvara Juvenile Club, our Under 16 hurlers, will this year compete in the A Championship.

This is a great achievement that we are playing at this level. I can only find record of once before that we competed at this level and that was in 1989, when after winning the U14B in 1987, we were placed in U16A. That year we went to the semi-final, only to lose to Turloughmore.
Under a different format in 1980, we also reached the county A semi-final, only to lose narrowly to a very strong Sarsfields side, who went on to win the title.

So this year in 2012 will be our first time ever in Juvenile hurling that we will compete at the A grade, not by virtue of winning a previous title, but rather on the squads ability. There are also only 11 sides in the U16 A Championship, so it is with great anticipation that we find ourselves up there with them. But, we will not be daunted by the task ahead, as this bunch of our hurlers will leave no stone unturned in their preparation.

Although our lads will now face 5 serious tough games in their group, it is no doubt that this is a challenge they will relish and I'm sure they will be hoping to upset the apple-cart in Galway U16 A Hurling!

Hopefully this is the beginning of our club sides competing at the highest level in their age group, and that we can all build on from this.
