U16s - Kinvara battle it out with Bannermen!

posted 20 Apr 2012, 01:15 by Unknown user
Kinvara 2-10, Kilmaley (Clare) 0-15

This U16 hurling challenge played yesterday evening in Gort CS was a lively affair with very little held back in terms of passion and intensity.

Kinvara, thanks to an early goal, held the lead throughout most of this game, until the battling Kilmaley lads fought back and were rightly awarded with with a flurry of 6 well taken points in the final quarter to take a one point lead.
But the Kinvara lads broke up field and scored a decisive goal to give them a narrow one point lead again. Kilmaley levelled with a point, before Kinvara responded with two of their own. Kilmaley replied again, but just fell short at the final whistle.

Credit to both sides for giving a lively match that was played in championship mode. The Kinvara lads will have learnt from this game, as there were certain areas that their Clare opponents excelled in that we must improve.

Thanks to Gort CS for grounds, and also to the Kilmaley U16 squad who travelled across the broder for this challenge. We wish them the best of luck in their own championhsip.
