U21's knocked out at quarter-final stage

Kinvara U21's were defeated last Friday by Kilconieron in this years U21 B Hurling Championship. Little did we think at the beginning of the year that we would have reached the quarter-final stage, and not only that, but we competed strongly, and were it not for a couple of recent injuries, we actually could have gone further.
The background to this years season was that we failed to field an U21 side in the past 3 years, mainly due to lack of numbers. A side was entered this year, and although we knew it was young, we knew it would be a team consisting of plenty of young talent. The team will only lose two of the starting 15 players next year (Niall Bermingham and Keith Naughten) and only one more (David Burke) the following year. Therefore of last Fridays starting 15, only 3 of them will be overage come 2015.
Credit to manager John Linnane for pulling this years squad together and getting them playing with such spirit and pride. Finally well done to all the squad who competed, punched above their weight and played with the passion and determination that we love to see in the purrpe and gold of Kinvara.
