CASTLEGAR 1-17...............KINVARA 2-13

Greetings from Kenny Park on this lovely warm sunny evening.
The stage is set.
Already this weekend, 2011 county champions Gort were knocked out as Turloughmore joined Ardrahan in the quarter-finals. This evening we will know two more of the last 8, as Kinvara face Castlegar, and Loughrea play Craughwell. The result of the second match means nothing to us, as we must beat Castlegar to advance to the last 8.
Elsewhere this evening, Clare and Wexford level after normal time, after Clare being in control for most of match. But now in extra time they have stepped up a gear and lead by 8 points at the halfway stage. That extra time means a delay in the other big match between Kilkenny and Waterford which was due to throw in at 7pm.
Anyways, back to the scene here in Kenny Park.
The nerves!!!!

Team line-out:
Colm Callanan, Aidan Moylan, Brian Carroll, Tadhg Reynolds, Ger Mahon, Shane Quinn, Colm Burke, Alan Leech, Niall Bermingham, David Huban, Tom O'Donovan, Mark Kavanagh, Conor Kavanagh, Shane Kavanagh, Conor Whelan.

5 mins gone. Castlegar 0-2, Kinvara 0-1. Castlegar look the livelier in the early exchanges with Kevin Brady being dangerous with two points from play. Conor Kavanagh replied for a with a free.
Shane Kavanagh, with a broken toe, lines out in full forward.
7 mins gone: Kinvara 0-2, Castlegar 0-2. David Huban with a delightful sideline cut straight over the black spot.
This game is intense!
14 mins gone: Kinvara 0-4, Castlegar 0-3. Conor Kavanagh with two white flags - one from play, other free.
20 mins gone: Kinvara 0-6, Castlegar 0-3. We beginning now to stamp our authority and our intent. A long way to go though!
25 mins gone: Kinvara 0-8, Castlegar 0-6. Two more Kinvara scores from Conor Whelan and David Huban.
29 mins gone: Kinvara 0-9, Castlegar 0-7.
Half time approaching: Kinvara 0-9, Castlegar 0-8.
Referee needs glasses.
Half-time: Castlegar 1-8, Kinvara 0-10.

We took a 0-10 to 0-8 with a good Conor Whelan point, and then in first half injury time, they sent a high ball in towards our goals and it wasnt dealt with, and they goaled.
They prob should have got a previous goal, only for a another wonder save from Colm Callanan in the goals.
Still, this game will go down to the wire.

And we're off here again in Kenny Park. Our half-time experts predict a narrow Kinvara win!
7 mins gone in second half: Castlegar 1-10, Kinvara 0-11. We just missed a free there to reduce it.
16 mins left: Castlegar 1-13, Kinvara 0-11. We fallen a bit behind now. Just seemed to have lost a bit of shape. Need to get back into this game, and fast.
12 mins left: Castlegar 1-13, Kinvara 0-12. Another Conor Whelan point. We finding it hard to score such is the marking of the Castlegar defence. But stick with it lads!
Penalty for Kinvara.
Kinvara goal by Colm Callanan.
9 mins left: Castlegar 1-13, Kinvara 1-12.
6 mins left: Kinvara 1-13, Castlegar 1-13. Tom O'Donovan point. Castlegar miss score up other end.

1 mins left. Still there. A long free in now by Colm Callanan...........a GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kinvara 2-13, Castlegar 1-15.
Ger Farragher point. Draw game now. A draw no good to us. Injury time now.
All over. Not good. One point defeat:
Final score: Castlegar 1-17, Kinvara 2-13.

Well. Some game. We were the two points down. Scored a goal on the stroke of full time. Went a point up. Castlegar then finish with two late late points to win by one. They now advance to quarter-finals with Loughrea.
Heartbreak for our lads.
