Tommie Larkins 4-17 v Kinvara 1-7
Kinvara senior hurlers suffered heavy defeat in this hurling league round 2 game played in Faiche Padraig yesterday. The visitors were lively throughout and coasted to victory with the help of two goals just before the interval.
Kinvara started brightly enough and were level after 20 mins on 6 points a piece. Alan Leech had two from play, plus a free, with Enda Mahon also popping over from play. Conor Kavanagh was fielding well on the wing and there was some nice passing movements. However, before the interval, Tommies struck for two goals. Keeper Mike Smith could do nothing, and indeed the halftime score could have been worse only for two point blank saves early in the half. HT. Tommies 2-10, Kinvara 0-6.
Kinvara could not bridge the gap the second half. A couple of missed point chances early in the half plus some poor free-taking did not help the cause. Sean Bermingham did strike for a goal, but the gap was too much.
Overall, it was hard going against a flying Tommies team, considering we had more than half of last years team missing through injury/emigration. There was however some signs for positivity and we look forward to the next game.
