KINVARA 2-8................GORT 1-10

Kinvara Senior hurlers claimed their second league win with this good performance against neighbours and rivals Gort, played in Faiche Padraic last Sunday 10th March. Although conditions were wild, at least the rain held off, and what resulted was a tough tight game that was both sporting and physical. This time last year Kinvara suffered a very heavy league defeat to Gort, and you could see they were determined not to have a repeat of that again this year.

Exchanges in the first half were brisk and each score was hard won, with defenders on each side benefiting from the difficult scoring conditions. Gort hit the scoreboard with some early points, but Kinvara responded and by half-time the home side went in with the lead by 1-5 to 0-6.

The second half started brighter for the Gort lads, who fired over 4 unanswered white flags to give them a two point lead plus the momentum. But Kinvara bounced back, and athough green flags were exchanged, it was two closing stages points from Kinvara that sealed the win.

A second league win for Kinvara, and a step in the right direction as they prepare for the first round of the County Cup and a clash with Portumna.
