Joe Gillane Cup U13 Hurling
in Faiche Pharaic, Friday 11th May 2013

Kinvara U13s boys had their first competitive match of the year last Friday in this Kilbeacanty Tournment in memory of Joe Gillane. But it was the visitors from Woodford who took the spoils but were made work for it right til the end.
Kinvara can be happy with their performance, although the lads will know themselves that they have to improve when playing championship next month. The Kinvara squad had 19 players togged with the incredible stat that only 3 of them are overage next year.

Tommie Larkins started the match brighter and had 1-1 on the scoreboard within 5 minutes. But credit to the Kinvara boys as they levelled with the next 5 minutes. The exchanges were even for the remainder of the first half, leaving the interval scores on 2-2 to 2-2.

Tommie Larkins came out stronger in the second half, with their older lads being the main difference. They eventually won by 5-2 to 3-4, and although we each scored a total of 7 times each, it was their goal taking that won it for them, although, again, for Kinvara, Ciaran Donohue had another solid game between the posts.

Kinvara team:
Ciaran Donohue, Evan Duggan, Brendan Linnane, Damien McHugh, Simon Whelan, Conaill Larrissey, Darren Kilkelly, Luke Connors, Patrick Byrne, Jake Comyn, David Whelan, Danny Travis, Donal Keely, Thomas Connolly, Aidan O'Sullivan.
Subs (all came on): Karim Mullery, Dean Ivers, Tuan O'Malley and Oran Frawley.
