Kinvara U-12s Footballer’s had a great evening’s football against Claregalway recently. Kinvara fielded two teams and played two matches losing one and winning one.  There was some tremendous football played, and the Kinvara lads took a while to get into their stride, however they finished strongly in the second half of both of their matches.

Kinvara were well served by Donal Mulligan who started in goals and later moved outfield and showed he is an all rounder. The defence of Damien McHugh, Joseph Maddison, Patrick Byrne and Aidan O Sullivan got to grips with the game in the second half. They showed great courage in their blocking and cleared the ball well when under pressure. The midfield duo of Ruairi MacSweeney & Cathal Walsh worked tirelessly and moved the ball well into the forward line. They also contributed well to the scoreboard with the two midfielders getting on the score sheet.  The forward line of Dean Ivers, Jake Comyn Ciaran O Donoghue and Jamie Killeen took some nice scores and never allowed the Claregalway defence to power forward.

The other Kinvara team were equally well served by goalkeeper Dylan Merchant who produced a string of fine saves. The defence of Tuan O Malley, Eoghan Hanley Oran Frawley and Karim Mullery were busy all evening. It was a great display of defending with little or no frees given away by the tenacious Kinvara defence. The midfield duo of Darren Kilkelly and Luke Connors proved a formidable partnership helping out their defence and supporting their forwards with some excellent passing. The forward line of Michael Donnelly, Thomas Connolly and Michael Corless scored and finished well. The moving of Connolly to full forward proved to be a master stroke where he contested every ball and caused all sorts of problems for the Claregalway defence.

The next game up for this team is another challenge vs Craughwell this Wed evening 7th June , which is in preparation for the development league which starts off against Clarinbridge on Sunday 24th of June.  See photos on Club Photo page.
